The Humane Education for Youth (HEY!) program focuses on creating a more empathetic, compassionate youth in our communities. The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley believes that education is a vital step in creating a no-kill community. HEY! offers a large variety of classes and programming for schools and educational programs as well as at our shelter.
HEY! programming in the schools offers a chance for students to learn hands-on with topics ranging from Pet Overpopulation to No-Kill to Animal Safety and everything in between! Each lesson also includes core curriculum components and character pillars. Our Reading to Ororo program is a fun, energetic storytelling session that not only teaches students about humane topics but helps them develop confidence in reading aloud.
It’s Time…to party! Celebrate your special day with our furry friends! Celebration parties are offered on Fridays from 6-8PM. Our basic package includes a tour of our shelter, puppy and kitten play time, and a scavenger hunt. Lessons, art activities and other services are included with a small fee.
Summer Camps First camp starts on June 10th!
HSTV is excited to invite our area’s students to participate in a large variety of summer camps this year. Each camp is unique with various lessons focusing on humane topics with fun, hands-on activities, crafts, and games. Each camp is lead by HSTV staff and trained educational volunteers. Don’t miss out on the fun, sign up today!
It’s Time…to learn! HSTV believes as an organization that the fastest way towards a no-kill community is to create a more empathetic, responsible community by educating our youth in humane topics. We are PAWS-itive that students will leave with a better understanding of the humane world and a smile on their faces.
