Lift Your Tail to Support the Humane Society
You can now learn yoga while benefiting the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley (HSTV) in one of two classes:
-
An eight-class beginner's yoga series designed for animal lovers with little or no yoga experience starts Tuesday August 19, 2008. The series will meet twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 to 7:15 pm for four weeks. The cost is $120.
-
For bipeds with some yoga experience, try the five-week basic yoga series to practice common postures while learning more advanced variations. The five-week course costs $75 and meets Wednesdays, August 13 to September 10 from 6:30-8:00 pm.
"I love animals," said Julie Morgan, the teacher of the two yoga programs. "Also, nonviolence is a foundation of yoga practice, so helping humans feel better in their bodies while donating to a no-kill animal adoption center really appeals to me."
Morgan has a 200-hour yoga teacher certification in Sivananda Yoga, a classical yoga style.
Both programs will be held at Yoga Haven, 12 Forest Court in Knoxville's Bearden area.
50% of proceeds will be donated to HSTV.
Limited space is available, so register now to build strength and flexibility… learn breathing, relaxation, and basic meditation techniques… all while helping the Humane Society continue no-kill animal adoptions and low-cost spay/neuter, vaccination, and microchip programs.
Although these are not classes for pets, there will be a "meet and sniff" at an area park when the courses are complete.
To register, call Julie at (865) 405-2487 or use the contact form at http://www.yogaknoxville.com for more information.
