Humane Society offers special on World Spay Day
Tuesday, February 28th, 2017
The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley is offering discounted spay/neuter services on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in celebration of World Spay Day.
The HSTV will be offering a $28 spay/neuter special as well as a free rabies vaccination with each spay or neuter and a free microchip for animals that join a lifetime registration with the society.
According to a release by the HSTV, thousands of pets in East Tennessee are affected by homelessness and overpopulation, but spaying and neutering household pets is a vital part of solving that problem.
Appointments for spay/neuter procedures can be made by calling the HSTV’s Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic at 865-579-6738. Pet owners are encouraged to schedule their appointments as soon as possible as appointment space on World Spay Day is limited. The Humane Society is encouraging everyone to help increase spay/neuter rates by spreading the word about World Spay Day and the society’s discount event to friends and family members.
The HSTV’s World Spay Day event is part of a national initiative that is working to promote the end of euthanasia in adoptable pets by spreading its message of “Adopt, Spay, Keep.” The HSTV is encouraging people who are not in need of the discount services offered on World Spay Day to “Spay it Forward” with donations to the society. The HSTV does not receive funding from the state or federal government.
The HSTV was chartered in 1885 and now operates as a no-kill shelter for East Tennessee’s homeless animals. The organization works to help rescue and rehome pets in the area to give them the opportunity to find new caretakers. The HSTV also maintains a low-cost clinic for pets and training and behavioral services, in addition to its adoption center.
