KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) — February is National Dental Health Month and for good reason! This is a good reminder to have your pet’s teeth and gums checked by your veterinary on a yearly basis. Dental health is important to the overall health of your pet.
While brushing your animal’s teeth daily may sound like a chore, it can save hundreds in medical bills caused by dental disease. There are tooth brushes and tooth paste made especially for our animal friends that help them become comfortable with the process. In addition to brushing your animals teeth there are also many treats that can be effective by scraping the tooth surface or by chemically removing calcium that be on deposited on the teeth. Yearly dentals for your pet may be needed if they are genetically prone to gum or dental disease.
